The already stripped block is cleaned, ready to be line bored
The crankshaft is now in place, with new bearings, and the main caps are refitted and torqued.
Returned from the machine shop, the block is now painted and ready to receive the reground crankshaft
The timing case is refitted
The two idler gears are refitted, aswell as some of the smaller parts of pipework
Slowly starting to look like an engine again, note the new colour scheme of Dragon Power this year, in full Bassaleg Hire livery of White and Dark Blue
Oil cooler and oil filter housing refitted
New oil pump fitted
Back plate finished ready to fit new pistons
New pistons fitted, modified by SC Pulling Parts, hopefully to allow more water to be added to improve cooling and hopefully prevent any heat seizing
New flywheel fitted manufactured by SC Pulling Parts in accordance to comply with SWTPA regulations
13" drive plates supplied by Nigel Bray Ltd and a new centre plate and steel cover manufactured by SC pulling parts ready to be fitted to the engine
The clutch is fitted to the engine
The timing cover is fitted
The water pump, bottom pulley and fan belts are fitted, and the engine is timed
The cylinder head is fitted, using new modified rockers, aswell as the valve springs supplied by Post & Dros of Holland.
The P12 Bosch fuel pump is refitted, that has been fully modified by the Sowerby Brothers of Bridgend - hopefully this should allow some more revs!!
Rocker cover is fitted
The injectors are re-fitted which have also been modified by the Sowerby brothers.
The inlet manifold is re-fitted, which has now been modified to suit the intercooler better, and to allow the new style of water injection.
The Garrett intercooler is refitted into the manifold
The new water injection system by ERL Ltd is fitted, aswell as the fuel stop solenoid
The exhaust manifold is fitted with turbo exhaust housing
The rest of the turbo is built up with the oil feed and return.
Engine finished and ready to be fitted
Alternator fitted
A new air kill device is manufactured and fitted to the turbo
The front axle is lightened by removing the heavy front weight carrier and some other unused brackets. The axle is also straightened.
The engine is lifted off the trailer ready to be fitted
New smaller front wheels are fitted to help with the weight loss, aswell as the new radiator and kenlowe electric fan, hopefully to aid with cooling
The engine is lifted and bolted to the front axle
The front half of the tractor is now taking shape
The modified front cowl is fitted
The grill and headlights are fitted, aswell as graphics added to the cowl, the new livery of the tractor is now starting to show.
The back end is stripped, in order to reduce weight as much as possible, all the hydralics are removed, aswell as anything else not required, a new hitch is fitted made by John Sowerby and the whole back end is prepared and primered
The top coat is applied to the wings and platform, and the gearbox and rear axle is painted blue
New battery tray is added ready to have the engine fitted
The front end is taken to the yard ready to be mated to the back.
After lots of hard work the engine is finally fitted, and prepared for its first start, see the video section for its first run.
The new tyres are fitted to the wheels, hopefully the lighter centres should allow more wheel spin.
Now complete the tractor is ready to be taken to the workshop to be finished
A one piece chassis is made, aswell as a front hitch, a tank for the intercooler and the new seat bracket is made and fitted
