First outing in my ownership was down in Haverfordwest in April 2007, looked pretty and went well - very happy with my new acquistion
The next outing was up in Nottingham, my first pull using the Peak Vale sledge. Pulled very well all weekend very happy - seems like the sherpa is still reliable!!
Shillingstone 2007, after all my trouble with Dragon Power during the weekend, I couldnt afford to kill it, so i didnt push it too hard, good weekend overall though
Astwood Bank - I had been without Dragon Power for weeks - i was missing my revs and the sherpa was really starting to bore me. Also it was a really hot weekend and when the weather is hot, it is twice as bad inside the van, so that weekend i tried to keep out of it as much as possible!!
As most people know, when I get an idea in my head i have to stick to it - so more revs we had to have. At Lowham the pump came off and so did some of the governer weights. At last now it revs!! The weekend went really well with both pullers - despite the weather. My only concern is the reliablity now.
Up to Pickering next seeing as how Welland was postponed and as the week went on things started to fall apart - even though I didnt have any problems effected the power or the pulling, I knew I had a lot of work to do afterwards.
I took the bull by the horns - or the sherpa by the gas axe in this case and cut the old body off and started again, you will be able to see in the workshop section what was done, but this is the result - and all in 3 weeks!!
The fuel system had been opened right up and a fair few other modifications done so Croeslan being very much by trial and error, but all went well so I was ready to go to Dorset!
Great Dorset Steam Fair 2007, I decided this was the event I had been working towards so i was going to risk it and give it some stick - moved up to the top hitch and gave it some all week - and i had the result I was had been aiming towards and it took the pace all week. Only problem was the turbo started to get a bit of play in the bearing - not the end of the world though!!
Good weekends pulling all told - now with a new larger turbo it went very well, managed to pull a gear higher!!
All went fine until saturday night, when i was hitched onto a high hitch, and unfortunatly the front started to lift at the end which resulted in the back hitting the sledge. Something else to do during the winter!!
2008 meant SWTPA, so a lot of work had to be done to get it up to 2008 safety specs. Bristol was a good event, apart from the rain before the measured pull. A couple of runs on the sunday event went to plan so it was business as normal, and the measured run resulted in a full pull.
The next pull was at Astwood Bank where a good couple of runs were done, some further modifications are now required for Heddington & Stockley including twin rear wheels and a higher hitch
The new tyres and hitch made a lot of difference with a easy full pull, unfortunatly heavy rain before the pull off made me lose traction at 71metres, still gave 1st place though.
Good weather allowed some good pulls at carmarthen, an easy first run gave me direct access to the pull off, unfortunatly I listened to advice from others for the pull off and selected a higher gear, but I was dragged down at 101.89 metres, first time this season i wasnt at the top, still in third place though!!
An excellant weekend at Lowham put me back at the top again, on the points run saturday, a full pull, and a 103.58 gave me 1st place, and then for the trophies on the sunday, a full pull and a 110.91 gave me another first place, so overall very happy!
Demo pull at Welland, very good weather meant it was too hot to get many pulls in, and a sledge over run at the end left me with some body work damage aswell!
Pulling with Peak Vale Pulling at Rockingham, lovely event and track, pity the weather spoilt it!
The story is for the end of the season with Possibly Perfection is pretty much the same as for Dragon Power, after Rockingham the rain kept up with only a couple of demo pulls managed in Croeslan, and then a fuel problem meant that no pulling was done in Diesworth.
Finally the sun came out for the SWTPA final, in Malpas, Cheshire where everything worked fine resulting in a win for the points on the Saturday and after an excellant battle with the Pulling Pig a 2nd place on the Sunday. With the points, that result confirmed my place at the top of the table for 2008.
